Happy Hobbies: What do you do for fun?

Finding fun in every situation and circumstance

This is a question that I don’t know if I’ve ever had a really good answer to. Usually, it’s been tennis or some other sport. It could’ve been monopoly or video games in college. Now it might be reading or working or working out. There’s not a ton I do that’s done with the primary intent of “having fun” and I’m not sure if that exists for me.

There’s a great book by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi called Flow. In it he writes, “The best moments in our lives are not the passive, receptive, relaxing times… The best moments usually occur if a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile.” — Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.

What do you do when you need a break or when you feel you need to relax?

Do you sit on the couch and watch tv?

Do you drink some beer and read the paper?

Do you read your favorite mystery novel?
