“I’ll Do it. You Have my Word.” Pt. 2
We can say something, but that doesn’t always mean that we have a stake in it.
When the going gets rough, what happens? We can back out, right?
“Oh no! I didn’t mean that!” we sometimes say.
But, why not just own up? Why not just take responsibility for changing things? Because it’s hard to do? Because people might count us out? (They’re doing that anyway).
It’s truly a strength to not care what others have to say. To me, my word is gold. But, people don’t always understand what that means. It could mean a lot of different things. If I say I’m going to do something, I’ll do it. But when I do it could change, that could fluctuate a little bit. And I’m fine with that. I don’t mind that people sometimes misunderstand me or who I am.
Gary Vaynerchuk, who I’m highlighting below also, is masterful at this. He has been able to put his head down and grind, he has been able to ignore the praise and the critiques for YEARS. Because he knows the mission, he knows his vision and he lives it out. Period.
I said something, I committed to something, but I didn’t follow through. I don’t often do this…
